Blood On the Page

"Jesse Sublett" "Jesse Sublett, author and musician" "Jesse Sublett Austin music legend" "Jesse Sublett noir"

Jesse Sublett’s new EP, “Blood on the Page,” with seven new songs, big sound.

Seven new songs, recorded in 2017 at Ameripolitan, Cris Burns engineering. Kim Simpson played guitars, and bass on a couple, plus percussion and backing vocals. That huge drum sound is William Mansell. I sang lead, played electric and upright bass, and electric guitar on a couple. There’s blues, rock ‘n’ roll, and the attitude you may have become familiar with going way back to my beginnings with the Austin sound in The Skunks, also The Violators, Jelly Roll, World’s Cutest Killers, etc. Jon Dee Graham came in and put down a beauteous lap steel sweetener on “Mockingbird Town.” Check it out. This my best studio record so far.
