(To see videos of THE SKUNKS, go here. Also, you can find some older videos of The Skunks from 1979 and 1985 on youtube, but make sure you include the search term “Austin” and/or “Jesse Sublett” because there are other bands out there called “The Skunks,” believe it or not, and they ain’t half as good).

Recent Video Clips of THE SKUNKS: Here’s “Earthquake Shake” from August 2012."Earthquake Shake"

Here’s “St. James Infirmary Blues” from March 2011."St. James Infirmary Blues"

Here’s “Commit a Crime,” one of our all-time favorite covers."Commit a Crime"

Jesse going it solo:

The first couple here are from Mal Thursday’s Texas Tyme Machine Night at Lucky Lounge, December 9, 2010. I had a serious case of pneumonia, but a few shots of Glen Livet and I was ready to sing the blues.

I’ve been playing Howlin’ Wolf for years, since he is really my favorite of all time, but there are only a handful of his songs that work out for me solo on upright bass. “Going Down Slow” works OK, I think."Goin' Down Slow"

Who doesn’t love Led Zeppelin? “When the Levee Breaks,” what a killer track, each part by itself is a masterpiece, but they got the lyrics wrong and then took credit for writing the damn thing. I do mine as a tribute to the originators, the songwriters, Memphis Minnie and Kansas Joe McCoy, who wrote the song in 1928 about the 1927 flood of Mississippi and New Orleans."When the Levee Breaks"

Here’s one about a murder / suicide pact called “Fire & Brimstone.”"Fire and Brimstone"

Thank you Mal Thursday for producing this event and Rachel O’Neil for shooting it. Mal Thursday’s Texas Garage Punk blog and podcast is supercool. Check it out.
